Hi,
1) Use any calibration software, but for this task even Adobe Gamma is OK.
Select the default space from the popup menu under the calibration chip and
use the latter in black&whito refine the brightness (or let it where it is
if you're not sure).
2) if you set the above gamma value to 2.2 don't do anything while encoding;
otherwise, using Cleaner, activate the gamma slider in the image tab and
slide it in accordance with your target audiance.
3) the white point is the color temperature mesured in Kelvin degrees.
The sun light, assumed as the reference white light, varies from 2.800 to
11.000 Kelvin degrees; from a red color cast to a bluish one but we
generally consider it having a default value of 5.500K, which is the
temperature daylight filmstocks are calibrated for.
The same goes for monitors, when it cames to set the white point we need to
choose a reference color temperature at which a white target (rgb: 255, 255,
255) appears white. A white chip at 5.500 will be bluish if seen at 9.000K
and yellowish at 4.000.
Althought sunlight is assumed at 5.500, mostly of the user's monitor are set
to a much higher, never the same temperature. Unfortunately those monitors
the target to address.
