Slide Show

I was having some problems with iDVD making slide shows on my iMac. It was recommended that I obtain Quicktime Pro to make up slide shows.
I have done that, however, when I use mixed format slides, i.e., portrait & landscape formats, (vertical & horizontal), QuickTime Pro stretches the portrait type slides to fit the landscape format, thus distorting the images. All the slides in the show become horizontal with the vertical, (portrait), slides distorted.
Am I missing something?
