You need some sort of DV Encoder and iMovie. iMovie is easy: you already
have it on your Mac OS CD set.
The encoder is a bit harder. Some DV Camcorders allow you to plug a video
signal into the S-Video (or composite) port and convert it to DV for you.
The signal will be available at the DV out port. You sinmply plug the DV out
into the FireWitre port on your G4. iMovie will see the signal and record it
to your hard drive.
If your camcorder doesn't support this feature, you will need a convertor
box. I use one from DataVideo called the DAC-1. It has been superceded by
the DAC-100 now.
HTH.

Subject: want to get started digitizing videos
Hi,
We need to digitize some films that are on VHS. What hardware and software
do I need in order to transfer films from videotape into my Mac G4? Is
there some special kind of interface board that I need that installs into
the G4? Thanks very much.
