Re: editing mov file

Hi:

Here's how I do it:

- Play movie and decide general area of start and end that you wish to remove.
- Move left and right triangles to approximate start and end. (I do a Cmd-B to set the left triangle, and then drag the right triangle to the approximate end.)
- Press Cmd-T (to enter Play Selection Only mode).
- Press spacebar to begin playing selection only.
- Press spacebar again to stop playing.
- Press Option-Left-Arrow to move to beginning of selection.
- Press Shift-Left-Arrow or Shift-Right-Arrow now to move left triangle to add or subtract from selection.
- Press Option-Right-Arrow to move to end of selection.
- Press Shift-Left-Arrow or Shift-Right-Arrow now to move right triangle to add or subtract from selection.
- Delete selection.

Notes:

- When in Play Selection Only mode you can move the current (upper) triangle to near the right end of your current selection and press the spacebar to play from that point to the end of the selection (useful for audio -- you don't have to play the whole current selection from beginning to end).
- The left triangle should be on the last frame you want played. The right triangle should be on the first frame you want playing to resume at after the deletion.
- Because of the above behavior, to delete from some point to the end, position the current upper triangle on the last frame you want to play (while playing is stopped), press the Right-Arrow key once to move one frame forward, press Cmd-B to set the triangles there, and then drag the right triangle to the end and press Delete.

Hope that helps,

iMP
