RE: MPEG 4 AVC

I was told it would by a reliable source, but the question is "when". I cannot offer any hard evidence to this, however.

It would be in Apple's best interests to make a definitive statement to that effect soon, before too many people think of jumping ship.

Why be so secretive?

Apple is part of ISMA, is one of the patent holders in Via, and is active in the mpeg4if lists, so I think the indications are positive.

There are still licensing issues to be worked out with Via Licensing and MPEG-LA, see http://www.m4if.org/patents/index.php

And nothing is going to happen, in my opinion, till the licensing issues are resolved. Hopefully soon!
