Vegas doesn't use QuickTime, but yes, you'll get PAL DV.
The pixel aspect ratio will be different than NTSC, and it depends on
whether you're shooting 4:3 or 16:9. (FWIW, it took me about 10 seconds to
find exact details using Google.)

What happens when one connects the Firewire output from a PAL camcorder to
the Firewire port on a PC? I use vidcap60.exe, the "capture" utility that
comes with Vegas from Sony. Will it create AVI files with a different pixel
ratio? What size, exactly?
