Hi,

Is it possible to save a proper mix down from 5.1 source material? I see
that QuickTime has this functionality built into playback, but can this
happen on export?

Exporting to stereo from a channel aiff yields just the first 2 channels of
the 6tk and other info is lost.

Jamie,
Our export chain uses the same path as our playback code. You absolutely can export 5.1 -> stereo. Here are the mix coefficients you'll get:

(L,R,C,LFE,Ls,Rs) -> (L,R):
        out[00] out[01]
in[00]: (1.000) (0.000)
in[01]: (0.000) (1.000)
in[02]: (0.707) (0.707)
in[03]: (0.000) (0.000)
in[04]: (0.707) (0.000)
in[05]: (0.000) (0.707)
