One thing to question is what full screen means. If you're doing recordings of normal activity of a 720x540 area, planning to make it be a tutorial DVD let's say, then even my single processor 1.8 GHz iMac G5 can do 30 fps. If I try something much more demanding, like live recording a playing DVD at 100 percent size (effectively 640x480), my iMac is borderline, it looks smooth but may not be at a full 30 fps. For those kinds of things a dual 2.5 GHz or higher is a better choice.
