Duplicate entries in web log from QT

I was looking at some web log statistics as QT movies were being served, and I noticed something that has probably always been there, but I never noticed before. I'm often getting two entries in the Apache log for each QT file - one is from QuickTime, the other is from the browser 2-3 seconds later. They both have all the same size, etc., just different user agent. It seems like (though I haven't fully tested this) that I'm getting double entries when the media is not cached, but only one entry from when it has been seen before and is in cache.

Is this normal/expected? I'm using Apache 2.2 and serving the QT files as ordinary files - no streaming or anything fancy. I have tested this by just typing in the URL directly in the browser without any HTML Object/Embed, etc. and I still see the same thing with both Firefox and Safari. Just wondering if this is a known issue, because I wanted to track the total amount of data served, and the duplicate entries will throw that off.

Thanks,
SR
