What is the container format used for MPEG2 data recorded by EyeTV (Elgato hardware)? QT Player can't open it, which is expected as I don't have the MPEG2 codec, but it can't open EyeTV's raw MPEG4 files either. VLC will open both.

I'd like to see if I could put together an app to do the editing of the files (based on the in/out points set by the EyeTV software) AND dump the resulting data to VOB files at the same time, instead of having to first compact the data in EyeTV, export it to a Toast- compatible mpg file, and then let Toast re-encode it as VOB - writing the data 3 times in the process..
