Re: QuickTime 7 + SMILText playlist = sound problem

I just tested your http url, and it played fine with QT 7.04.

However, you also seem to have the same issue I'm having with sound that does not start right away. It's not very noticable on your file because it's only a minute long, but adjusting the slider to a particular time in the video, the video plays and the sound eventually plays.

Similar to my post at:
http://lists.apple.com/archives/QuickTime-Users/2005/Nov/msg00184.html

And like you, older (6.x) versions of Quicktime did not have this issue. I did not get a response from my post.

Subject: QuickTime 7 + SMILText playlist = sound problem

Hi all,

We are having problems with sound in streaming videos delivered through
a SMILText playlist in QT 7. This has been working fine with QT 6.5.

The odd thing is that files play fine when accessed directly, it is only
when they are referenced in a SMILText .qtl playlist that problems have
occured.

What happens is that the sound starts skipping forwards during play, and
sound playback finishes well ahead of video playback.

Has anyone experienced the same, and does anyone have a solution to this
issue?

An example of the problem can be seen here:
http://atvs.vg.no/play/getplaylist.php?video_id=2420&index_id=&bandwidth
=700&timecode=&player=qt

This is the file referenced in the playlist, and it plays fine when
opened directly in QuickTime:
rtsp://qt.sc.kq.no/vg/video2005/storage/compressed/2420/qt_700.mp4

I have this problem on QT 7.04, but not on 6.5.2 (both PC). Video format is MPEG-4, Sound is AAC, 44.1kHz mono

I haven't been able to test it on a Mac yet.
