I am also wondering if anything, i.e.: a quick fix from Apple, or a reasonable explanation as to why Flash is now blocked by default, would be gained by publicizing how this has broken some existing QT content, and burned developers, on some of the more popular tech news sites and tech blogs.

Not sure which ones would be appropriate. Just an idea...sometimes a little bad publicity is a useful means to implement change.
