Re: QT 7.1.3 and Flash support

I just discovered another down side to this situation. It affects not only users, but developers. You can toggle the behavior of Flash tracks in QT two ways. In the plug-in/browser, it is called "plug-in" settings. In the QT Player, it is called "QuickTime preferences". But they are one and the same setting with different names.

I need to keep the default setting of Flash tracks disabled when I'm on the web, to protect myself, and also to test my pages to see the impact on my work. But when I'm preparing Flash material for import into Final Cut Pro or when I want to work with a broken movie in QT Pro, I need Flash tracks enabled. This requires constant return to the settings and restarting applications, which is time consuming.

Personally, I'd like to be able to set QT prefs flash on and plug-in settings flash off. However I realize that wouldn't work for everyone.

I have brought the QT 7.1.3 and Flash support topic up on the Flash forum and the Final Cut Pro forum. So far there have been no comments. I searched them both and couldn't find a reference. I found one problem in FCP. When the flash track is disabled in QT, FCP can't import it.
