.mp4 and .m4v files are both MPEG-4 files, just with different extensions.
.mov is a QuickTime Movie.

Yes.

Yes.  Only PCs and the iPod can play QuickTime Movies.

So the PSP can play at least some MPEG-4 files that play on the iPod? Likewise for Windows handhelds?

Is there any way to present close captions (as opposed to open captions in the video stream) using MPEG-4? Or Apple/QuickTime/iPod MPEG-4, anyway?
