So the PSP can play at least some
MPEG-4 files that play on the iPod? Likewise for Windows handhelds? Yep, you can make MPEG-4 files that play on both iPods and PSPs. Portable Media Centers generally don’t support MPEG-4, but
most other “enlightened” portable players (like the Archos
AV 700) do. Is there any way to present close
captions (as opposed to open captions in the video stream) using MPEG-4? Or
Apple/QuickTime/iPod MPEG-4, anyway? There is (I have MPEG-4 files with closed captioning that work
fine on Windows), but I don’t believe QuickTime or the iPod support them.
