Get Pageot (free). Use the "External Javascript" option. Drag and drop or copy and paste into your html source.

If you don't want to see html at all and want to create a web page that puts a movie on top of an image, buy Stampbot from the Pageot site. It will create the html for you.

You are missing my point:
I am looking for widget, action, behaviour whatever that works with either
Dreamweaver 801 or Go Live CS. Surely in this day and age of slick computer
programs, there would be something like this available for QuickTime. I
have tried to Apple solution but I don't understand it..I am not a coder. I
do know that just one slip up and the darn thing throws an error. That is
why I would prefer to work with an automated button. Is there such a thing
that works for Flash and QuickTime? I notice that there is one in
Dreamweaver for Flash...why not QuickTime. How come Adobe never updated the
Quicktime one in Go Live? Is it because they've decided that QuickTime is
not worth the trouble? If so, why doesn't Apple put together something.
As you have agreed, the whole thing is a pain. I am just looking for a
painless and quick solution so I can get on with MORE important things :)

I, too am looking for a solution. The I.E. Active X thing is a pain!
Surely, with the widespread use of QuickTime, there is a Dreamweaver
Plug in
or Go Live Action that takes care of this whole mess! But, alas, a
search on
the web reveals nothing!!

What does this mean...we should all do Flash! ????
----------------
I agree, it is a pain, but...
First, it's not just an "Active X" thing - that was the <OBJECT> and
<EMBED> issue a few years back (Micro$loth couldn't just follow
Netscape's lead). The "recent IE" thing Sancho was referring to was
M$'s way of avoiding a patent infringement rather than paying some
royalties like everyone else. Active X and other items are affected.
Second, there are a lot of solutions out there on the web; you just
have to look. Apple has one posted, and there are others. We've
discussed this on this list many times, so check the archives for code,
tips, advice and links to various solutions. Look for "IE", "patent",
"JavaScript", "external", "embed", etc.
Third, Flash suffers from the same issue - embedding any content in a
web page would be a copyright infringement. (Adobe has a solution
posted too.)
Fourth, IIRC, Dreamweaver has been upgraded to write web
pages/javascripts that work. (I hand-code my HTML, so haven't touched
Dreamweaver in a couple years.) Don't know if that is for any media
that would normally have been embedded, or just their own stuff (i.e.
Flash), but would be easy enough to alter it to fit your needs.
However, Dreamweaver is still a pig writing way too much code than
required. Is not too hard to take Apple's code and configure for your
needs.

Incidentally, where can I find some tools to do what Apple has done on
the
Aperture page...an alternative to Flash....no wretched plugins,
consistent
on almost all browers without any need for downloads and updates!

Did you view the source at all? It's just HTML, CSS, JavaScript - the
usual suspects. Here's part of it, listing the images to use and giving
them classes and IDs so the CSS knows what to do with them. The rest of
the coding is in various Head tags and external files.
