The quality of the images with Canon 1D and D60 is almost the same. It is
basicly the same sensor.

The largest difference of 1D comparing to D60 is a much better autofocus
(which you do not use at all for panoramas) and there is less noise at the
fast speed settings  800 asa. And of course the price has fallen to about
60%
