Canon G2 and Raynox DCR-FE180Pro Combination

Are any of you using this combination, and if so do you have any tips and 
recommendations (besides a wheelbarrow to tote the lens)?  I'm slowly 
moving from film/12 frames of rectilinear wide angles/cylindrical panos 
to digital/??? frames of somewhat distorted images/cubics.

It seems that the zoom setting on the G2 would be particularly hard to 
define, e.g. "zoom until you notice vignetting and then back off a bit".  
Will a Kiwi+ support the weight of the lens? Am I in for a lot of 
de-fishing?
