Is this possible? I don't think Cubic Connector is going to allow me to do this because I have tried. Is there anything else out there that WILL allow me to do this?

It's absolutely possible. The easiest way to do this is to create a sprite track that switches images depending on the hotspots that are clicked or by moving sprites to appear in the "scene" when a hotspot is clicked.

I know that LiveStage Pro is able to do what you want (and a ton of other things). There may be other software that can do this, but I'm not sure. Maybe some one else can chime here.

one more question:
when the full frame still IS in the window, and I want to go BACK to the VR tour, I click the "back" button, but it takes 2 full seconds to go back to the VR tour. Is this because the file is so big? it is 7mb in size. How can I make it faster? My computer, his computer, and his students computers are all fast computers, with plenty of RAM. the panning is smooth. But that lag is tortuously too long of a wait.

Try compressing the image more. IMO 7MB is large, even for full screen. If you use the sprite method above this should not be a problem as the VR is never discharged from RAM. Both the VR and the sprite track would be in RAM at the same time.
