Maybe not the 8mm , but I would use crazy glue to keep that lens from
dropping .
I have the 3Sixty detent spring tensioned 3/4 the way down the arm,
Holds a 35 mm Canon EOS w/28-200 lens...no problem !
Sounds like you need a new spring, I'll send you one.
