I don't know what you mean by the "siding on the mill looks distorted", but
I see jpeg compression artifacts all over the place. You'll want to crank up
the jpeg quality to deal with those.
The resizing shouldn't be having a bad effect (presuming you did it in
PhotoShop with BiCubic interpolation, or something of equal quality), but
I'd consider scaling the whole thing down a bit after stitching, but before
compressing. That can get rid of some softness from stitching.
Also, be sure to set QTVRAS's sharpening method to "Gaussian", which is the
best quality offered by the software. Or turn it off and do it in PS, very
carefully.
To really see what you're getting from the stitcher (vs. the compression),
look at the intermediate pict file.
