I am more than a bit in awe at the level of some of the work done by
people on this list, either because it is technically amazing or
artistically inspiring--or both! Anyway, I am starting at the
beginning and have a few questions.....
I am not a photographer, but can occasionally take some decent pics,
when I make the effort. I have a CoolPix 4500 and want to make some
object movies of a few furniture pieces. Eventually, I may hire a
professional, but that isn't in the budget at the moment--which is "as
little as I can spend" for now. I have the ability to build both a
turntable and a circular camera support if necessary, but if I can plot
points in space to locate the lens then obviously a tripod with a
bubble level/laser/angle gauge arrangement would be easier. I may need
a turntable anyway to accommodate the space.
In addition to 360 rotation, I would like:
1) to pan about 45-60 degrees upward from horizontal, limited by
ceiling height.
2) to include motion at certain points in the movie. For example,
when a unit is viewed from 45-90 obliquely, I would like the viewer to
be able to open the drawers or doors, turn on an interior light, etc.
and continue with rotation.
Question:
Given the objectives and limitations above, can anyone offer some
guidance/personal opinion as to minimum software/hardware that would be
needed or useful? I have Photoshop Lite and Graphic Converter, but
need something like QTVR, and may need to upgrade to the full version
of Photoshop, and I may or may not need an additional lens for the
Coolpix as well. I am using OS 9 and X on a Mac. So I expect to spend
at least a few bucks, but would like to focus on what is minimally
necessary or useful.
Thanks in advance for any thoughts.
Eric
PS--I have no water to drop my camera into, just concrete!
