Hi Will,
I'm not really sure what the root cause of the problem is but I think
its tied in with which software program was used to do the stiching.
We use a single .mov file in our web sites and deliver it to the viewer
via QT or PTViewer by detecting if they have QT installed or not. I use
Panoweaver 3 Pro on the PC to do my stiching and I usually end up
exporting the six faces for retouching. In order to have a single .mov
file work in both QT and PTViewer I need to do the following:
1. Import the 6 faces in CubicConverter (Mac)
2. Convert to a movie
3. Export the movie
Note: at this point the movie will work in QT and PTViewer; but in
PTViewer the faces will be out of order!
4. Open the movie in QTPro and save as a Self-Contained movie.
This movie will now play perfectly in both QT and PTViewer (go figure)
Hey! If anyone has a better way I would love to know.
In regard to the movie you mentioned in your email I opened it into
CubicConverter and followed steps 2,3 & 4 after opening the movie in
CubicConverter.
I have put the results up online (its still using the 2.4mb file so it
takes a while to download)
A. Original file - sheldoniansq.mov
http://www.tonyredhead.com/vrml/original.htm
B. Sheldoniansq.mov imported, converted and exported from CubicConverter
- sheldoniansq_cc.mov http://www.tonyredhead.com/vrml/ccexport.htm
C. Sheldoniansq_cc.mov opened,saved as (self-contained movie) from QTPro
- sheldoniansq_qtsave.mov http://www.tonyredhead.com/vrml/qtsaveas.htm
FYI, here's an example of the way we deploy our single .mov file for YHA
(Youth Hostels of Australia)
1. PTViewer version -
http://www.yha.com.au/hostels/360_tour.cfm?hostelid=93&ptviewer=1
2. QT version - http://www.yha.com.au/hostels/360_tour.cfm?hostelid=93
Hope this helps.
Tony
