Re: Cubics with PTViewer

Hi Tony,

Thank you for your reply and all the time you spent putting this together.
It is most appreciated!

I went to the web page(s) you set up with the comparisons and could not get
A (original file) to work which I think I should expect? However, I could
not get B (imported, converted and exported from CubicConverter) and C
(saved as self-contained movie from QTPro) to play on my system. I am
running Mac OS X 10.2.6 on a Dual 1GHz desktop with 1GB RAM.  I believe I
have all the latest software releases from Apple in regards to Java. I
tried this with MS Internet Explorer for Mac 5.2 and Safari 1.0. Both
browsers stopped at "Loading Image... 80% Complete". I let it stay that
way for at least five minutes each time before closing the window. What is
interesting is that I tried it on this same system under Virtual PC/XP Pro
with MS Windows Internet Explorer 6.0 - both B and C worked. Have you
experienced anything like this?

Regarding opening the movie in QTPro and saving as a Self-Contained movie in
order to make the order correct: In case you are not aware of it, there is
a PTViewer param that might help:

======= PTViewer documentation (begin) =======
order - This parameter is used with QTVR- files. It determines the order of
the tiles (in the case of cylindrical panoramas), cubic-face images (in the
case of cubic panoramas) or individual movie frames (in the case of object
movies). If this order is non-standard, e.g. because the QTVR-file has been
flattened, then this parameter should contain a comma separated list of
numbers indicating the positions of the images.
======= PTViewer documentation (end) =======

I tried this with my test (taking the 72K stitched image sample posted on
the Tutorial and putting it through CubicConverter) and got it to work in
the correct order with the following values:

<param name="order" value="0,1,5,2,3,4,6">

Regards,
Will
