Going Cubic

I have now reached the point where I am reasonably happy and confident producing cylindrical panos and VR objects and have a good workflow to follow using QTVRAS so would like to move on to cubic panos.

I have looked at and tried demos of some of the other software available but am not achieving much success or real understanding of the process. Maybe because QTVRAS is so user friendly it has given me false expectations about what is available for the cubic process so some help would be much appreciated.

I currently have a CP5K, WC-E68 wide angle and Kaidan KW 990 head and decent skills using Photoshop 7. What additional gear is recommended and which software will give me the best results - I use Mac. Any advice on the workflow for stitching and producing the cubic view would also be very welcome.
