The project I am involved in would like to make a sequential video
showing off CQTVRs in as high quality and as smooth as possible. As
well as sharing the method I found, I would very much like input on how
to fine-tune compression/quicktime setting in order to get the highest
output quality possible.
This is the method I have developed:
1. Slight color correction of images
(CanonD60+Sigma8mm+KaidanSpherical) in Photoshop
2. Make high quality pano with PTMac (osx)
3. Stitch with MakeCubic sw as PhotoJPEG, high qual, output size 720x576
4. Open final pano in QTPlayer and enable cache and high-quality in
QuickTime Player for all tracks
5. Save these setting in the pano file
6. Connect a Sony DV-Walkman to the S-Video port on my TiBook667
7. Setting 720x576 as the size of the output on that port+enabling
overscan
8. Mirroring the PowerBook screen with the s-video port
9. Opening a pano (720x576) and choosing "Present Movie"
10. Pressing record on the DV-Walkman and recording my movements on the
screen
11. Repeating this with several other panoramas
12. Grabbing it all into FinalCutPro and edit it together
Time is also a factor - what is why I chose the S-video output to tape
method. Tried several other methods, but they are too cumbersome or to
time-consuming.
My questions are:
1. The pans/tilts in my panos are not as smooth as I would like. Any
suggestion on how to make a panorama go smoother?
2. Cannot see an immediate result from turning on the high-quality
option in QT-player. Anyone know more about this option?
3. Any other suggestions on how to capture ultra smooth and ultra high
quality panoramas?
4. Any way of slowing down a panorama zoom in QTPlayer?
Best regards,
Kjell Are Refsvik
