One thing you have to remember is that Apple's benchmarks are the ONLY benchmarks submitted to SPEC that use systems that will run a standard OS and apps that are common use. If you look at the specs that IBM submitted for the 970(G5) you will see that they as well, are at least 20-30% higher than those touted by Apple. So why didn't Apple just use IBM's SPEC results ? Well the answer to that it is, the config and the compiler used are so far removed from the end user that they bare no resemblance to REAL WORLD scenarios and that goes for the figures submitted by Intel.
Therefore the SPEC results shown by Apple are the ONLY true indication of the TRUE performance of the G5 in comparison to the P4 and Xeon.

PS Just watch the keynote and you will see in the REAL world tests how much faster the G5 really is !!!!
