Size Reduction problem

I'm having a problem with a visible seam when I reduce the pixel size of my original pict file. The original size is 8256 wide x 1972 high, when processed in qtvr, it make a perfect movie. I change the width size to 1460, which is divisible by 4, as is says in the qtvr manual, then crop the height to 348 and process the image using a tile ration of 1:24. The VR now has a visible seam.

What's funny is that I did this to several other vr's and had no seam... Any incites?
