I was aware of the open faces view but had been avoiding it since
discovering a bug (go to single face view, click in label field to
give it focus, click open faces button, kaboom) and since you
can't label hotspots in that view.
I've never run into that bug, I guess because I label my hotspots
in the "Connections" tab, when I am visually aware of where they
lead to.
I won't actually be making connections in the app. All I really need
to do is create and label blob hotspots and save the movie. I won't
be exporting with HTML or anything. I'm looking for the most
streamlined and efficient way to simply add hotspots and save the movie.
If the hotspot drawing-tools in a $79 app really frustrate you,
Not nearly as much as the bugs and crashing. The CubicConnector
program also leaves large "tmp.MV~" files in the folder with exported
movies. They persist even after quitting the app. Maybe I'm doing
something wrong. I've emailed the developer and am awaiting a reply.
Also, I was curious to know if I could down-sample a movie and still
retain the hotspots. I created the movie with CubicConverter, opened
it in CubicConnector and added the hotspots, then re-opened it in
CubicConverter and specified a smaller cube size. When I convert it
back to a movie, it looks fine in CubicConverter with hotspots
intact; but when I save it to disk, the faces are assembled
incorrectly, as you can see here:
LiveStage sounds awesome. Once I make my first billion, I'll be
looking into multi-media software apps.
