For the ultimate control of hotspots, look at the 'Cubic Hotspot Tutorial'
here: http://developer.apple.com/quicktime/quicktimeintro/tools/index.html
It is perhaps a little fiddly, but works very well *and* because all the
hotspots are created in Photoshop, it is fully scalable along with your
equirectangular...
If you have a PC, then 'Pano2QTVR' http://www.pano2qtvr.com/
has some nifty hotspot capabilities
