Speaking for myself...what would keep me from using someone else's designs or concepts, is pride or self respect. If I can't substantially improve on the function, value, and/or cost in my own unique way, why bother?

US has signed The Paris Convention as well as the  Berne Convention


Like most other countries in the world, even China.

Unfortunately not all countries do what they have to do about it.

90% of copy products come from China even if they are obliged to obey these rules.


They are even members of the WTO since 2001 but they still produce a lot of  copies in different areas.


Last  big case seems to be the Smart Car
