I guess so. Of course the cable mod will work as well. My experience with telescopic pods and cable is rather catastrophic and a tangled up all of the time kind of situation. I have seen some sound guys gear booms with integrated wiring, but then again its big bucks.

The book of it is a phenomenal read as well.....for technophobes or not, alike. It's fun to replicate and saves a bundle.
