Re: QuickTime 7.4 / IE 6 problem Hello again,
This is an update to my message below. We have done some more tests. We all use Windows very infrequently, so we may be missing something basic. Any suggestions will be greatly appreciated.
This “plugin error” continues to be VERY erratic, with more successful views than error messages.
We have now seen the plugin error with QT 7.4 in IE 7, IE 6, and IE 5.5. All in XP. On different computers in different locations. Before and after installing all available XP and IE updates.
Is anyone else experiencing this error?
If you give us some of the problem URLs it might help someone here to solve the problem.
Thanks,
Tom

Subject: QuickTime 7.4 / IE 6 problem
Hello to all,
I use Digest mode, so I apologize if this is old news.
While testing some updates to our website we discovered that attempting to view QTVR files using QuickTime 7.4 for Windows and IE6, frequently produces this error message.....
“An error occurred inside a plugin contained on this page.”
... followed by...
“The plugin did not initialize properly.”
.....followed by a broken movie icon.
It’s erratic. The first few attempts sometimes play fine before this problem starts. Sometimes not.
Some things we’ve tried and learned:
1) No problems with QT7.4 and Firefox/XP, Firefox/Mac, or Safari.
2) QT 7.3 (or even QT5) do not cause the problem.
3) It’s not just on our site. We get the same errors on the WWP site, panoramas.dk, etc.
4) It’s not just our computers. The same problem occurred for someone else at another location after installing QT7.4 for Win.
5) It’s not just QTVR. The ad and demo of MacBook Air on Apple’s home page throw the same errors. (Hopefully, that will provide some incentive to fix this.)
All of this was with Win XP.
Can anyone else verify this problem on XP and/or Vista?
Thanks,
Tom
