Hi all,

I'm trying to grab closed-caption text out of a video source. I know I
should be using text channel components in the sequence grabber, but the
documentation doesn't seem to cover it in any detail. Has anybody done this,
and can anybody give me a clue as to where to get started? Thanks.

Stanley,

the text channel components are seem to be only rarely implemented by card manufacturers etc - often only on a card with tuner... what I'm trying to say is that they're rare, and hard to find, not common, etc :-)

if you _do_ have one for your card (50/50 you don't ;-) then you should just add an SG text channel component and away you go... but I'm not sure that the Java wrappers will be in a complete state vs. the C API..

you could try getting a list of components of type 'sgch' and see how you go... there should be two at least (video and audio) but more would indicate good news for you I think...

if you don't have one, then it's possible to decode the starting lines yourself into the cc text, time etc, but you're probably not asking about that.

cheers,

dean
