Sprite key frames

I'm having a problem where I have created and added a sprite track to my movie, but my sprite media handler can't seem to find my sprites or images - even though they clearly show up when I play it.
My only theory at this stage is that I have somehow got an extra key frame in my sprite movie, and while my movie seems to work fine when I play it, I am getting an empty key frame when I try to access it.
So, my question is, how do I advance to the next key frame? Or other advice?
