as a side note, i have solutions to the problem if anyone is interested
though it generally involves layering QT content within QuickTime tracks.
(at least that is my personal solution)

For the text field, you could use Text tracks or Flash text for example, for
buttons i use Sprites or Flash - you can retrieve/catch these values via
various methods. it isn't difficult but it requires knowing how to build
these types of movies with proper scripting hooks, anyway, that's what I've
found works best for my purposes.

btw, if you are just using flat content, say a straight ahead movie, check
out the ImageProducing example in the sdk. That will do what you need.
