I had the same problem, when I first tried to update to the preview., just installing 7 over 6. Second time I explicitely uninstalled 6 and cleaned my customized QTJ environment variables. The preview installer then installed QTJava into C:ProgramFiles/java/jre1.5/lib/ext . QTJava apps played fine. After moving QTJava.zip to my jdk/jre.... and again customizing variables I was able to compile as well. The preview has som serious performance problems though (not java related I would say).
