Time Bases, Time Records and Chapter Tracks

Hey folks,

I'm still trying to wrap my head around the use of TimeBases and TimeRecords. In particular, how the TimeBases of the SequenceGrabber and movie files relate. I've got a class that records audio and allows for the creation of chapters on the fly. At the end of the recording, the Chapters are assembled into a Chapter Track and added to the newly recorded movie. The problem is that the timing for the grabber is different than the movie. For example, the Chapter created based on a TimeRecord of the SequenceGrabber will have a value of 10300876 at 10 seconds. The movie has a time of 6028 at 10 seconds (with 30fps playback). So, when the ChapterTrack is added, it's completely out of scale. The movie ends up with 5 hours of silence after the initial recorded material. I'm not quite getting how TimeBases work in terms of scale, etc. Any pointers? Where can I get a grasp on this?

thanks,

Jaime
