Announcing I/ON: A QT4J-powered Product

For the last six months, I've been developing a new application named "I/ON" that combines Media Player capabilities with RSS. It specifically includes support for RSS 2.0 w/ Enclosures, MediaRSS, and Bit Torrent support. It uses the Quicktime for Java API, among other (lesser?) media APIs, to support playback of video and audio. The product is licensed under GPL, with code available as soon as we can do some cleanup.

Here's the quick website blurb: "The I/ON Internet Video Console fuses together leading technologies into one simple media player, connecting you directly to the video you want. Avoid the ads, pop-ups, and spyware that come with watching video
in a browser and watch the web"

We've just launched our website, and the first public beta of I/ON. To learn more, go here: http://www.openvision.tv/home

If you want to download the I/ON player (MacOS X and WinXP for now), just go here: http://www.openvision.tv/home/download.jsp

I look forward to any feedback or questions you may have, and will let everyone know when the code is available. Specifically, I'll call out our Quicktime code, which is fairly robust at this point, with our own custom controller, and support for buffering from the network.

Regards,
    Nathan
