I've encountered something similar, only on Windows though. OS X has been fine. Suspect the QT native bridge. My workaround is to keep QT Component in a frame/panel by itself. Takes care of it. Somebody else wrote back that he had hit upon the same fix.
I stream my media. I monitored the streams on my media server and sae that when I was reloading new files in the same window, the original streams were not being closed, although the code thinks they were. In a separate window, they are managed better and the streams get closed. I tink it has to do with the flakiness of QTSession.
