Does it matter? They reworked the forums a year or so ago to expose them to Google and other outside search engines. Good thing, because Apple's mailing list search engine would take two minutes and deliver lousy results.

Try a Google search of the form:

site:lists.apple.com list-name search terms

For example

site:lists.apple.com quicktime-java SequenceGrabber audio

gets you 174 results. Try it yourself:

<http://www.google.com/search?ie=utf-8&oe=utf-8&q=site:lists.apple.com%20quicktime-java%20SequenceGrabber%20audio>
