Mostly I lurk here and soak up the combined wisdom of the list but
now I have an interesting problem and I'm quite sure that someone
here will point me in the right direction.
I have several machines that are shared between two shifts of
workers. Last night I pushed out a new set of Quark 6 preferences to
both accounts on the shared computers. The computers that were
currently in use assigned the proper ownership to the files.
The Quark 6 preference files are located here:
~/Library/Preferences/Quark
Accounts that were not currently active (i.e., the account wasn't
logged in) had ownership of root:admin assigned to the Quark prefs
directory and its contents. I need to fix that and set it to the
proper account ownership. I know I can do this with the Send Unix
Command function in ARD but I'm unsure of the syntax. Essentially
I'm looking for a command that will check the contents of /Users and
chown recursively the contents to the proper owner. Account names
and Home directory names are identical so it should be possible to
just get the individual accounts from the contents of /Users. I just
don't know where to start.
Thanks in advance!
