I see. At least as far as choosing which image, you should be able to have multiple netinstall images and choose the right one from ARD>set startup disk.

Ok let me clarify a little... Its not the master image that goes onto the machine that I am concerned about, that part is fine. I’m talking about the netinstall image that the machine is actually netbooted off while it is imaging its internal drive. So machine netboots, tech can then ARD to it and choose a config/image to restore and press go... Tech can then monitor progress remotely.
In any case, I got around the problems I was having by copying over a /sys/lib/perl directory from a working install (this is 10.4.2 btw). Now I am just having issues making a user to authenticate ARD with... But I am slowly getting there.

Subject: Re: ARD client on Netinstall image
Mine works,. but I had installed ARD client on my "master" computer BEFORE imaging. Now I set the startup disk through ARD, with restart, and when it's done I can use ARD to rename the machine and configre the printer. Never have to leave my desk. : )

I'm trying to install ARD client onto a netinstall image (actually
NetRestore, but that's a hacked up netinstall). I've made the image, mounted
it and installed the client onto it ok, but when I boot the image ARD does
not run.
I've made sure ARD is on in the /etc/hostconfig file, and tried using
kickstart as well. Kickstart returns a long error relating to Perl - "cant
locate Foundation.pm in @INC"
Has anyone got ARD running in a netinstall image? This would obviously be
handy for re-imaging remote machines...
Thanks,
JK
