Anyone have any thoughts on creating update Packages for various apps and having them posted somewhere for all?

What issues would their be?

Perhaps:
1. Licensing - Site vs Keyed apps
2. Redistribution - Not sure if MS would be to keen on it (in the case of Office) :-)

In the case of Microsoft Office, the updater programs themselves don't ask for any licensing information regardless of whether the installations are site-licensed or nodelocked. The updater programs already assume you have a licensed installation. It's only when you wholesale replace an older version of Office with an updated version of Office instead of just updating the older version that these problems surface. As to whether Microsoft would bother, one might note that they have the updates readily available for all and sundry to download for free on their website anyway. But then, who knows what goes on in the mind of a lawyer? Or one who works for Microsoft, especially? :-)

p.s. What about adjusting the subject line to suit when replying to a thread, eh?
