it's less work to create a package installer for office 11.3.3
updater than it is to walk to a couple dozen (or a few hundred/
thousand) computers and perform the install manually. you can push
the components or the entire folder. the trick is making sure you
do a proper snapshot so users don't get the initial prompt at first
launch.
You can have a look at DeployStudio (www.deploystudio.com), which
proposes DiffPackageMaker to create a snapshot of your disk, then it
generates a package after the installation.
i like to stick to bundled tools if they do what i need (since they're
supported by apple). i haven't tried the snapshot feature in
packagemaker. using loggen forces you to be aware of what's going where,
etc. there's always the danger of file merges too (serials being
appended to pre-existing text files (adobe cs2), so i'd rather not
depend on a program to do this kind of stuff.
