Although I'm pretty sure that the upgrades will go smoothly I just
wanted to make a final check with the list about a few questions:
I am going to be upgrading all my Mac clients to ARD 3.0 from 1.2.4,
I also have two OS X Servers that manage the clients via Computer List.
The Applications are managed with "User can only open these
applications" and ARD Agent is already in the list. As in the ARD 3.0
manual I will be also enabling "Allow Unix tools to run" for ARD 3.0.
Because of the environment I'm in, I may have to wait to upgrade the
Servers (currently set as ARD 1.2.4 clients themselves) until later.
My questions are:
1. Is the ARD Agent that shows in the Managed Application dialog in
WGM version specific or will it automatically recognize any version
of ARD?
1a. If it is version specific, are there any issues with having the
OS X Servers as ARD 1.2.4 clients and the Mac clients as ARD 3.0?
1b. If it is version specific how do I get the Server to recognize
this? ARD Agent is not something I can find in a search so I am
guessing the only way would be to have a client with ARD 3 launch WGM
and connect with the Server (if that is even necessary).
2. I currently have the Firewall turned on for my Mac clients. I seem
to remember some issues I read about upgrading and Firewall settings.
Does anyone remember these and do they still apply to version 3?
