In the Windows firewall control panel, in the Advanced tab choose ICMP
Settings. Check off Allow incoming echo request. In the exceptions tab
you can add port 5900 or the VNC server program.

Hello Folks,
An apple newbie here.
We are using ARD to monitor about 60 macs in an automated lecture
recording system. We have just added 20 pc's to the system and would
like to use the same app to monitor these. Everything I read says
this should work.
We have UltraVNC on the pc's. I can "see" all of them from the
Ultravnc client and from a VNC manager program but cannot see any of
them via ARD UNLESS I disable the XP pro SP2 firewall. With the
firewall on, I get an "Offline" message. With the firewall off, ARD
works perfectly. Tried all combinations of exceptions on the firewall
but nothing seems to work
Tried installing TiteVNC on the pc's but the result was the same.
Is there any way of getting ARD to "see" the pc's with their firewalls
on?
