Ummmmm.......Because we are doing science and not journalism? :-)
Seriously though, sorry for the glib reply, but one might expect Apple
would do a little more to announce these types of sites even to Apple
hosted lists like this one. Although I am not complaining about the
re-emergence of a science oriented page(s) on Apple.com, I would like
to see more science directed marketing even referencing these webpages
on print ads and such.
We now have the pieces in place for a major push in science marketing
with the G5 and OS X, so why not draw more attention to projects in
science using Macs? I have pretty much switched 90% of our lab over
and am now working on a few others including organizing a possible
bioinformatics core facility and I am still surprised at the number of
folks that walk into our lab, look at all the Macs and say, "wow.....I
had no idea Macs were useful for science". These visitors include
donors who are the captains of business, other scientists and a variety
of other folks who absolutely do not know about the potential of Apple
computers in hard core science.
