Re: Package Manager on MacosX

Sorry I misspelled Synaptics Package Manager. It comes preinstalled on mepis linux.

Synaptics scans the entire system looks at installed packages (compilers, system processes, applications).

It then scans the available packages on many sites and gives options to delete or install. It also checks dependencies.

I am looking for a MacOSX package manager similar to synoptics (linux). I want to read all the various packages that have been installed and allow me to uninstall if desired. RPM also does this fairly well but is not as good as debian based managers.

I have looked at fink commander and it seems it will only work with packages it has installed. It does not find all previously installed packages.

I have also looked at darwinports. It seems to be a command line oriented package manager and may be my best bet.

What are your ideas.
