Re: Package Manager on MacosX

I am looking for a MacOSX package manager similar to synoptics (linux). I want to read all the various packages that have been installed and allow me to uninstall if desired. RPM also does this fairly well but is not as good as debian based managers.

I have looked at fink commander and it seems it will only work with packages it has installed. It does not find all previously installed packages.

I have also looked at darwinports. It seems to be a command line oriented package manager and may be my best bet.

I don't know what this "synoptics" might be, but both Darwinports and Fink only manage packages they themselves have installed, just like the debian package manager and RPM and any other package manager I ever heard of. If you are talking about the packages installed with Apple's Installer.app, then maybe Pacifist (find it on google) is your friend.
